CONNOR, Dorothy O’Connor

Passed away peacefully on the evening of Monday, September 8, 2025 surrounded by love and holding the hands of her close family — life partner Rod McLean, son Conor Mihell (Katherine Prince) and daughter Caitlin Mihell (Ramin Emad) — after a sudden encounter with cancer. She was the cherished baby sister of Michael (Roni), Donna Schoenherr (Wayne), Terry, and Stephen; beloved “Momma D” of Alexandra McLean, Sarah McLean, John McLean, and eight grandchildren; a dear aunt to her many nieces and nephews; and cousin to Dan Draper (Sue).

She is reunited with her parents, TJ and Mae, who contributed to the strength and integrity she displayed in all aspects of her life.

Dorothy was a lifelong learner who embraced new challenges throughout her diverse careers at Sault College and the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources, where she served as both educator and manager. As a parent, partner, friend and colleague she was a quiet leader, always recognizing, trusting and bringing out the good in people.

In retirement she discovered stained glass, kayaking and pickleball, and found joy in chasing summer — from St. Joseph Island to Florida’s Gulf Coast. Dorothy is gone too soon, but we will always admire her resilience, bravery, and independence as she follows the sunshine on her next journey.

The family would like to sincerely thank the nurses and staff on 3B and 3C at Sault Area Hospital, and especially Dr. Ladak, for their compassionate care.

A private family celebration of life will be held. Memorial donations to Algoma Residential Community Hospice (ARCH) would be appreciated by the family.

Dorothy left us gently, surrounded by love. We take comfort in knowing that she is free now — and surely dancing again.
