COOK, Walter James Cook May 23, 2025
COOK, Walter James Cook

Met by St. Peter, he was told that his fishing buddies were waiting for him.
Born in Thunder Bay, Ontario in 1942, Walter died peacefully at Lakeridge Health (Oshawa General Hospital) after a brief illness. Walter is survived by his only blood relative Arthur Hunter and his wife of 50 years, Elizabeth Kelly Cook. Beth and Walter were married in 1974 and their love was constant and boundless. They met at Alfred University which they both attended. Aside from Beth, Walter loved skiing (in his younger days), fishing, sci-fi and fantasy novels, and his remote control (of which he was King). A loveable curmudgeon, Walter had a sly humor and classic British wit. He will be missed.

Beth would like to thank her close circle of friends, her sisters, Amélie and Pam, and the distant loved ones — all of whom were there for her during this trying time. Finally, a huge shout out to Father Michael at St Gertrude’s Catholic Church for his thoughtfulness and prayers and all the caring staff at Oshawa General, especially those on floors 4, 5 and 7.

In lieu of flowers, acts of kindness may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Diabetes Canada, or in any way to the St. Gertrude’s ‘Drive the Spirit’ Golf Tournament.
