Marilyn Jaquelyn (Johnston) Craig passed away suddenly at Wingham & District Hospital on Thursday July 17, 2025, surrounded by her family. Marilyn was 84 years old & was married for 48 years to the late Don Craig who predeceased her in 2007. She is survived by her daughter Deb & Fred Hakkers of Blyth, & sons Doug & Joyce Craig of Newry & Dave Craig of Blyth. She was the loving Grandma to Heidi & Kyle Martin of Palmerston, Jon Hakkers & Katie Renwick of Wingham, Jamie Craig & Laura Hoy of Lindon, Alberta, & Quinton Hakkers of Blyth, as well as doting Great Grandma to Austin & Tyler Martin. She is survived by her sister Nancy Daer of Wingham, Brother & sister in-law Bodie & Ollie Craig of Blyth as well as brother-in-law Murray Kane of Fullarton. She will be missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins & friends.

She was predeceased by her husband Don, her parents Winnie & Charlie Johston, Don’s parents David & Annie Craig, her sister-in-law Joye Craig, brother-in-law Ed Daer, and grandson Frederick Hakkers.

Marilyn worked at Sparling’s Hardware, CIBC, & Carol’s Candies as well as being secretary at Blyth United Church, she also ran Stitches by MJ a sewing business of Blyth’s Main Street before retiring to spend more time with Don & her family. She enjoyed volunteering at Blyth United Church helping with meat pies & funerals.

She was a breast cancer survivor since 2004, had battled to come back from Gallbladder Surgery gone wrong which left her having to learn to walk again, MRSA and a large hernia, MRSA caused her most recent fight which caused a cyst on the spine & lost her mobility. Thanks to the love & support of the Staff of Huronlea she was able to regain mobility allowing her to attend several family events, & the day before her death she managed to walk to the Dining room with her walker.

The Family will receive Friends at Blyth United Church on Friday, July 25th from 2-4 & 7-9pm. Where the Funeral Service will be held Saturday July 26th at 2pm. Donations in memory of Marilyn to Blyth United Church, or Activation at Huronlea, Brussels.
