CROOKS, Merle Hillary Crooks

It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of Merle Hillary Crooks who left us on November 27, 2025, at the age of 89. She was preceded in death by her husband, David P. Crooks, who passed away on June 4, 1997.

She was surrounded by her loving family and friends in her final moments.

Merle was a woman with an amazing sense of humor, very analytical, loved her pets, and enjoyed the time spent with family and friends. She had a warm kind soul who always saw the good in everyone and enjoyed a good joke. Merle also loved to dance and will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her 4 children David (Renée), Kevin (Kathy), Jackie (Peter), and Khristine (Don), 10 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. A previous co-owner of Curves in Bowmanville, Courtice, and Newcastle.

As a lover of animals, and in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to “The Humane Society of Durham Region” in her name.

Her funeral service will be held at Northcutt Elliott Funeral Home in Bowmanville on Saturday, December 27, 2025, at 2:00pm followed by refreshments.

Merle’s memory will live on in our hearts. One more Angel in Heaven, One more star in the sky. Rest easy MotherCrooks.
