
Shirley Trudell passed away after a lengthy illness, June 4th, 2025, with family at her side, at home in Burlington, Ontario. Born in Cornerbrook, Newfoundland, daughter of the late Eli and Levenia Curtis, Shirley was one of four siblings and is predeceased by her older sister Mabel (Nathaniel) Hutchins, her brother William John Stephen Curtis, and is survived by her sister June (Steven) Noseworthy.
Shirley married Joseph Calvin Penney in Cornerbrook, Newfoundland in 1954 and together had four sons, William, Brian, Chris, and Paul. Shirley separated from Joe and moved to Toronto with her two youngest sons in 1971. She later divorced in 1974. Shirley remarried in 1989 to Gene Marvin Trudell in Pinellas, Florida. There she resided until Gene’s death in 1995.
Shirley eventually returned to Canada and settled near her Sister June in British Columbia. After successful cancer treatments, Shirley moved to Ontario in 2018 to reside with her son Paul (Sharon).
She will be forever loved and missed by her sons Brian (Sherry), Chris, and Paul (Sharon). Shirley is predeceased by her eldest son William, who passed in October 2024.
Shirley also leaves behind 9 grandchildren; Tara, Chris, Doug, Lucas, Blair, Travis, Michael, Samantha, and Curtis, 11 great-grandchildren; Aaron, Justin, Tyson, Ryder, Callie, Robyn, Krystin, Ryan, Ronan, Dawson, Wyatt, and 2 great-great-grandchildren Kinsley and Kayce.
