CZAJKOWSKA, Teresa Czajkowska

Peacefully passed away surrounded by her loved ones on December 3, 2025 at Lakeridge Health Oshawa, after a courageous battle with cancer, at the age of 69.

Teresa was born on August 10, 1956 in the small town of Szubin in Poland to Kazimierz and Marta Czajkowski. As a young girl, she enjoyed spending time outdoors, had many friends and was always an honour student. As she grew older, her love of children inspired her to successfully pursue a career in Early Childhood Education. Bravely fighting against communism in Poland, she was a member of the Solidarity movement (“Solidarnosc”), which forced her to leave her motherland in 1988 and safely move to Canada, joining her sister and family. Teresa cherished her time spent with family in Canada and Poland. She happily joined road trips and pilgrimages, danced away at many concerts and loved Christmas time.

Teresa continued her work with children as a teacher’s assistant at Waterview Childcare Centre and as a Polish-language teacher for many years. She was a loved, kind and respected individual, always seeing the best in others. We could always count on her for help, support and any advice, as her heart was big enough to hold us all. She was a woman who listened, understood, gave generously and was humbly appreciative and joyful of life’s little wins. Teresa bravely battled many life adversities but never complained – setting an example of true strength and sacrifice.

Predeceased by her father Kazimierz. Beloved daughter of Marta Czajkowska of Poland. Loving sister of Elzbieta Piasecka (Adam), Wiesława Tubacka (Grzegorz) of Poland, and Dariusz Czajkowski of Poland. Dear aunt of Agnieszka, Barbara, Piotr, Marcin, Joanna and Magdalena. Loving great-aunt to 13 great-nephews and great-nieces. And many cousins.

Teresa will be sadly missed by all her family and friends in Canada, Poland and the USA. Her warmth, her love and her sincere smile will always be remembered. She was a beautiful ray of light, showing us pure selflessness, kindness and strength until the very end. You are so loved and so missed. Teresa will forever remain in our hearts as a wonderful daughter, sister, aunt, great-aunt and friend.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 9, 2025 from 5-8 p.m. with Prayers at 7 p.m. at Armstrong Funeral Home (124 King St. E., Oshawa). A Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, December 10, 2025 at 10 a.m. at St. Hedwig’s Catholic Church. Cremation to follow.

As an expression of sympathy, dedicating a mass at St. Hedwig’s in her memory, would be appreciated. Online condolences may be shared at www.armstrongfh.ca
