COSTLEY, Daniel Herbert – (December 23, 1927 – December 30, 2015) – Passed away suddenly, but peacefully in hospital on Wednesday, December 30, 2015 having just celebrated his 88th birthday.
Beloved husband of Pat for 62 years. Dear father of Paula (Gord) and Sara (Mike).
Proud and loving ‘Grandpa Dan’ to Alison, Jillian, Olivia and Graham Mount and Andrea and Daniel Cooper. Brother of Alan (Rea) and sister Janet.
Dan will be missed by his extended family in England, Canada and the United States.
Dan joined the Royal Navy at the age of 17, proudly serving in the final year of WWII.
After returning home and marrying Pat (February 21, 1953), Dan earned his accounting degree at the London School of Economics.
Dan’s family came to Canada in 1965, where he started his career with the Government of Canada.
Following retirement, Pat and Dan became snowbirds and spent many happy months on Longboat Key, Florida.
Dan will miss his hours spent sailing on the Ottawa River and the walks taken on the banks of the river with Pat in Andrew Haydon Park.
Friends are invited to a memorial reception at the Pinecrest Remembrance Centre, 2500 Baseline Road, Ottawa, Ontario on Monday, January 4, 2016 from 2pm to 4pm.
Memorial donations can be made to the Queensway Carleton Hospital or the Ottawa Civic Hospital.
