DANKOWSKY, William Edward “Bill” Dankowsky

DANKOWSKY, William Edward “Bill” Dankowsky

Bill passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 6, 2025, at WRHN @ Chicopee (formerly Freeport Hospital) after a courageous battle with cancer, at the age of 81.

He will be sadly missed by his brothers, John and Al (the late Patricia) Dankowsky. He is also lovingly remembered by his niece, Pam (Greg), his nephew, Rob, as well as his great-nephews, Liam and Noah, and great-niece, Danika.

He is predeceased by his parents, Bruno and Mathilda Dankowsky (née Greschner).

Bill grew up on a farm in St. Clements. After completing his post-secondary education at Laurier University, his adventurous spirit led him to the Northwest Territories and the Yukon, where he worked as a gold miner. Eventually, he returned to Ontario, where he worked for the postal service in Toronto and then Kitchener.

Bill was both a gentle soul and a keen intellect who chose to lead a quiet and humble life. He also enjoyed spending time with his loved ones. Bill had a passion for history, anthropology, geopolitics, and philosophy. He thoroughly enjoyed his discussions with Noah and Liam on these and many other topics. Bill was a voracious reader and had a special connection to animals.

Happiness for Bill was sitting on his recliner, a great book in hand, with the family dog curled up on his lap. At family gatherings, the dogs could always be found at the foot of Bill’s chair, ready to gobble up the tasty morsels he was sneakily passing their way.

Cremation has already taken place. As per Bill’s wishes, a private family interment and Celebration of Life will be taking place.

As expressions of sympathy, donations to WRHN Foundation – Cancer Centre, in Bill’s memory would be appreciated and may be arranged through Erb & Good Funeral Home at 519-745-8445 or via www.erbgood.com.

Memories and notes of condolence may be shared at Erb & Good Family Funeral Home.
