DEERING, Ronald Joseph Deering
September 2, 1938 - July 2, 2025
Born on September 2, 1938, Butch was a man of strength, humour, and unwavering zest for shenanigans. He carried quite a charismatic presence and his stories, laughter, and the way he lived his life, unapologetically and not serious about anything, will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.
Butch leaves behind his 4 children, Lynda, (Brett) Chrissie, Ronni (Don) and his son Timmy (Christine) and his grandchildren, Michelle, Alyssa, Brian and Brooke, each of whom loved him very much.
Butch’s legacy is one of adventures, no fear and deep love for family, a proud child originally from Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, he truly loved his first family, all 13 siblings.
He met Carolyn Fensom in Ontario and continued to build a life with her over the decades. He was totally loved and accepted by his wife, for everything that he was and wasn’t. His life was never really the same after losing Carol to Cancer in 2001. They must be having one heck of a reunion with her asking what took him so darn long!!
His memory will live on in the hearts of those he touched, and his spirit will continue to guide the family he loved so dearly.
The family is grateful and sends sincere Thank You’s to all those who have reached out to let them know that they were being thought of during this difficult time. With a special appreciation going out to the home and health care team looking after our dad in his recent years when he needed the help. Extendicare Bay Ridges in Pickering was professional and patient and really looked out for Butch, putting up with his antics, complaints, dancing more! Special thanks to his main nurse Amanda, who really helped us provide the care dad needed to be happy and comfortable in his final years. THANK-YOU!
A private family service will be held to honour Butch’s wishes, and he will be going home to be put to rest. In lieu of flowers or anything, the family asks you to share a story, raise a glass, or simply remember him with a smile.
Rest peacefully, Butch. You will be missed but never forgotten.
