Demerchant, Gary Frederick –
Passed away at Lakeridge Health Oshawa, surrounded by his family on Tuesday June 10, 2025 at the age of 70.
Beloved husband of Mary.
Dear father of Stacey, Michelle & Mac, Tammy & Jay, Michael & Kim, Clay & Amanda, and Josh. Lovingly remembered by his 14 grandchildren many great grandchildren.

Brother of Jeannie, Bobby, Cathy, and the late Tony. Predeceased by his parents Verna, Eugene and Clayton.

Lovingly remembered by many family and friends.

Gary proudly dedicated nearly four decades of his life to AG Simpson, working there from 1985 until his well-earned retirement in 2024. Known for his strong work ethic and loyalty, Gary brought the same dedication to his personal life.

An avid outdoorsman, Gary found joy and peace in fishing, hunting, and four-wheeling. He was a true Canadian at heart—passionate about hockey and baseball, and always up for a game or a good conversation about either. His greatest joy, however, came from time spent with his family. Whether it was relaxing at the cottage in Minden, sharing laughs around a fire, or heading out on the lake, Gary treasured every moment.

Fishing with his grandchildren was his absolute favorite pastime. He lit up with pride every time he cast a line with them, sharing stories, teaching them the patience of the sport, and building memories that will live on in their hearts.

Gary also enjoyed quieter moments—solving word puzzles, listening to country music, and appreciating life’s simple pleasures. A devoted family man and a loyal friend, his presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

A Funeral Service will take place the Chapel of the Armstrong Funeral Home, 124 King Street East Oshawa on Friday June 13, 2025 at 3pm. Visitation will take place from 2pm until service time. Online condolences can be shared at www.armstrongfh.ca
