DESMARAIS, Lynda Joyce Desmarais

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Lynda Joyce Desmarais (nee Barton) at the age of 77. She was born in Windsor, Ontario, where she graduated from the Hotel-Dieu school of nursing, class of 1969. She began her career in Toronto working with Canada’s first heart transplant team. Returning to Windsor, Lynda and Gary married (1971), and she worked in labour and delivery until returning to Toronto, where she joined the Canadian Red Cross. Upon returning to Windsor in the mid-80s, she was named Windsor Regional Nursing Manager of Canadian Blood Services. After 10 years there, Lynda and her husband moved to Austria for Gary’s three-year assignment. Upon completion, they moved to Clarkston, MI, where Lynda joined Miro / 21st Century Radiation Oncology Clinic.

Lynda loved life; she was the loving foundation of her family, who adored her so dearly. She spent many years enjoying lakefront living, playing tennis, boating, waterskiing and extensive travel. She became a skilled artist and loved to paint with oils. She also had a great appreciation for nature, only surpassed by her continual love of dogs. She leaves behind her furry companion, Stella. It would be hard to find a kinder, sweeter and more loving soul. She always put her family first.

Leaving behind her husband of 55 years/best friend Gary Desmarais, and their three daughters, Nicole (Alex) Price, Colette (Jeff Lawson) Desmarais and Carolyn (Rick Wilk) Desmarais, along with their five grandchildren, Leah, Olivia, Sam, Liam and Noah. Sister to Donna and brother-in-law Allyn Miller, of Big Rapids, MI. Aunt to Anya Miller Beebe and Ryan Miller. Great Aunt to Briana and Ella Beebe. Predeceased by parents Pauline Barton (nee Homick) and Leslie Barton. Cremation has taken place at Wint Funeral Home, Clarkston MI.

A Memorial Service and Reception will be held on Saturday, March 28th at Windsor Chapel Funeral Home-Banwell Chapel, 11677 Tecumseh Rd. E., Windsor, Ontario (519-253-7235) from 1:00 – 3:00 pm. Please arrive by 1:15 PM. Donations may be made to the cancer society of your choice.
