DICK, Alexander Finlay Dick

Surrounded by his family at LHSC University Hospital, on Monday, February 16, 2026, Alexander Finlay Dick, at the age of 87.  Loving husband and soulmate of 65 years of Katherine (nee Meegan) Dick.  Proud father of Allan (Sue) Dick, David (Karen) Dick and Brian (Susan) Finlay.  Proud Poppa of Alex, Andrew, Hayley, Anne-Marie, Graeme, Lauren and Ben. Predeceased by his siblings Derek (Ann) Dick, and May (Walter) Zdriluk.

At the age of 19 Alex emigrated from Edinburgh, Scotland, to be closer to his sister in Waterford, Ontario. He soon fell in love with his long time penpal Katherine. He took a temporary journey to California where he served in the USAF. Upon returning to Canada he married Katherine and worked at various jobs in his trade as a welder. Alex became a teacher in London, and always claimed it was the best welding job ever. He supported many students over 25 years in beginning their careers in the trade. He enjoyed spending time with his extended family and his golfing buddies. He was fiercely loyal to his family, with his grandchildren, nieces and nephews holding a special place in his heart. Alex had many good stories, but the best was of how he met his wife and fell in love with her. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

A Funeral Mass will take place at a later date.

Memorial donations may be made to St. John the Divine Parish, London, Ontario or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.  Funeral arrangements are entrusted to John T. Donohue Funeral Home, London.
