In Loving Memory
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Karen Dickey (Metzger), who left this world peacefully on February 10, 2025, at the age of 80. Born on March 16, 1944, in Toronto, Ontario, Karen filled her years with love, laughter, and a profound dedication to her family and community.
Karen was the beloved daughter of Garfield and Edna Metzger (Ryan), who predeceased her, along with her cherished husband, Fred Dickey. Their memories will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved them.
In addition to her loving husband, Karen is survived by her dear sisters, Bernice Townley (Walter) and Marlene Metzger, as well as her two devoted sons, Travis and Jason, who, along with his wife Stephanie, carried forward her legacy. Karen was also a proud grandmother to her three grandsons, Diego, Aaron, and Aiden, each of whom held a special place in her heart.
Throughout her life, Karen was a dedicated teacher, impacting the lives of countless students with her passion for education and nurturing spirit. Her influence extended far beyond the classroom, as she empowered her students to embrace their potential and strive for excellence.
Karen’s love for horses was a profound part of her identity. She found joy and solace in their presence, spending countless hours riding and caring for them. This connection to nature and animals reflected her compassionate character and deep appreciation for the world around her.
Having shared over 35 beautiful years of marriage with her husband Fred, Karen’s life was a testament to love and partnership. Together, they built a family grounded in values of kindness, respect, and adventure, creating memories that will be cherished by all who knew them.
Though she has departed from this earthly realm, Karen’s spirit lives on in the hearts of her family and friends. A private funeral service will be held to honor her remarkable life, allowing her loved ones to reflect on the profound impact she had on their lives.
As we remember Karen, we celebrate a life enriched with love, education, and the beauty of nature. She will be deeply missed, but her legacy of love, kindness, and devotion will continue to inspire those she leaves behind. Rest in peace, dear Karen. You will forever be in our hearts.
