DIKALIOTIS, Spiro Dikaliotis

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Spiro Dikaliotis, who died on February 2 at the age of 87.

Spiro was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and uncle. He will be deeply missed by his beloved wife, Dora; his children, Ted (Marie), Voula (Mark), and Anna (Paul); and his cherished grandchildren, Olivia, Rosie, Jack, and Ava. He was predeceased by his treasured grandson, Alexander, and his loving brother, Kosta.

Spiro will be remembered for his kindness, warm sense of humour, generosity, and unwavering love for his family. He took great pride in caring for those around him and always found joy in simple moments spent together. He especially cherished time with his wife, whom he adored, and found peace and happiness in nature.

Originally from Kalamata, Greece he built a life and legacy within Chatham that touched many. Spiro was well known as the owner of The United Grill and Spiro’s Restaurant. He loved hearing stories from friends, neighbours, and patrons who fondly remembered meals shared and moments spent there—memories that brought him great joy and pride throughout his life.

A private service will be held for the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Alzheimer Society of Chatham-Kent.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the PSWs and the Chatham-Kent EMs Community Paramedicine Program, who supported Spiro at home, as well as the staff at the Alzheimer’s Day Program, for their compassionate care and meaningful programming, which he looked forward to every Thursday and Saturday.
