In Loving Memory
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Carmelo Joseph Di Mauro, of Whitby, on March 17, 2025, at the age of 69.
Born on April 3, 1955, in Montreal to Francesco and Francesca Di Mauro, Carmen’s early years were filled with playful adventures and mischief alongside his best friend, Romeo Salvatore. His generous spirit, sense of humor, and unwavering loyalty to those he loved defined him throughout his life.
Carmelo was the devoted husband of Maria for 45 years, and a loving father to Francesca (Ian) and Irena (Mike). He cherished his role as Nonno to Max, Teo, and Angelo, and was a beloved brother to Stefano (Franca) and Soula (John), uncle to Francesco, Eva, and Sasha and a proud dog father to Leela.
A dedicated professional, Carmelo enjoyed a fulfilling career at Scotiabank, where he formed many lasting friendships. His work ethic, integrity, and commitment to those around him earned him the admiration and respect of all who knew him.
Carmelo lived a life marked by his steadfast commitment to his family and friends, his strong sense of responsibility, and a deep, if sometimes unspoken, love for those he cared about.
He was a man who found peace in simplicity, whether it was tending to his garden, taking long walks, or enjoying the quiet moments of life. He was loved by dogs, and loved them right back.
Carm spent his retirement with Maria tending to his three passions: his dog, his garden, and his grandchildren.
We will gather to celebrate Carmelo at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday April 6th, 2025, at Mount Lawn Funeral Home. Please arrive from 2:30 -2:45 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Durham Community Health Centre or the Canadian Cancer Society.
The family wishes to send a special thank you to Dr. Rothenstein and the staff at the Oshawa Cancer Centre for their care and compassion.
