DOJCAK, Tony Dojcak

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Tony Dojcak at the age of 92. Tony was born in The Pas, Manitoba to Andy and Annie Dojcak. He grew up in Flin Flon, Manitoba where he developed a passion for sports and recreation, which later became his career.

Tony met and married Ethel Verna Nicholls, a young high school teacher. After the birth of their first child, Raymond Joseph, they moved to Peterborough, Ontario, where Tony worked in recreation. The family soon expanded with the birth of Katherine Anne and Patricia Eileen, and eventually settled in Burlington, Ontario.

Tony dedicated over 33 years to the City of Burlington’s Recreation Department, where he helped develop numerous parks, facilities, and community programs. His work was instrumental in shaping the city’s recreational landscape, including contributions to the Waterfront Trail. He also served his church as Parish President and was passionate about curling, badminton, and gardening.

Tony is survived by his devoted wife of 69 years, Ethel (Nicholls), his children Ray (Raisa), Kathy (Helen), Patty (Brian), his grandchildren Jennifer, Matthew (Amalia), Ryan, Scott (Stephanie), Jordan, and Caleigh, and great-grandchildren Ayden, Logan, Gavyn, Lincoln, as well as many step-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Predeceased by his parents Andy and Annie Dojcak, his brother Victor, and other beloved siblings-in-law, Tony will be fondly remembered for his generosity, dedication, and love of family and community.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to LaSalle Park Retirement Residence, OntarioHealth@Home, and the staff of Joseph Brant Hospital for their care and compassion. A Celebration of Life will be planned in the near future.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer Society of Brant, Haldimand, Norfolk, Hamilton, Halton or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.

Memories and notes of condolence may be shared at Smith’s Funeral Home.
