MOORE, Doris Jean Moore

MOORE, Doris Jean  – Passed away at Hospice Simcoe, Barrie, on April 30, 2023, after a lengthy illness.

Doris spent a long time at IOOF Seniors Homes in Barrie.

Doris was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota; and she was educated in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and Dallas, Texas, graduating with a degree in Nursing in 1952.

She came to Canada in 1958, and worked in The Toronto Public Health Deptartment as a PHN Supervisor and School Health Consultant.

Doris leaves behind three cousins in Minnesota, Joseph, Mary and Ruth Mahon; and the Salvisburg and Glenny Families in Ontario. Also, special friends, Margaret McGovern of Toronto; Marilyn Bennett of Kingston; Kevin Eden and family in Australia; Anna Lynne and Gerry Palmer of Texas, U.S.; and Mary MacDonald of Barrie; Lois and Bill Catalano, Eileen Ponsford, Theresa Natapolski, Judy and Cliff Billiald.

Many thanks to all the PSWs who cared for her while she was at home in Barrie.

“Friends and prayers are priceless treasures beyond all monetary measures.  We will say a special prayer that God will keep you in his care.”

A funeral was held on Thursday, May 4, 2023, at 11 a.m. at Adams Funeral Home, 445 St. Vincent St., Barrie, ON.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, Hospice Simcoe (336 Penetanguishene Rd., Barrie, ON L4M 7C2), the IOOF Seniors Homes (10 Brooks St., Barrie, ON L4N 5L3) or to the Charity of Your Choice would be appreciated.
