DOUCETTE, Evelyn Doucette
June 28, 2025
Passed away in her home on Saturday, June 28, 2025, surrounded by family at the age of 83.
Dearly missed by her son, Kevin, and her daughter, Carol Anne (Scott) Weir; her grandchildren, Bretton Weir, Kassandra Michelle Doucette, and Melissa Nicole Doucette; and her sister, Patsy (Pat) MacDonald of Stellarton, NS.
Evelyn is now reunited with her husband, Gerry Doucette, of 61 years. Also predeceased by her parents, Mike and Grace Fraser, and her siblings Wayne and Carlene, all from Nova Scotia.
Born in Stellarton, NS and raised in a small coal mining village known as The Bull Pen, Evelyn moved to Ontario in 1962 with Gerry and married in 1963. They made Waterloo their forever home. With a talent for numbers and problem-solving, Evelyn worked at the bank for over 35 years, forming lifelong friendships and carrying those life skills into family life.
Evelyn loved puzzles, especially sudoku and crosswords, and had a gift for making birthdays and holidays extra special for her family—especially Kassy and Missy. She also travelled across North America with Gerry for his career, cherishing those memories together. Known for her kindness and generosity, she supported many churches and charities.
A loving wife, devoted mother, and cherished Grammie, Evelyn’s presence will be missed dearly by all who knew her.
Special thanks to the home care and palliative team for their daily compassionate support in fulfilling Evelyn’s wish to spend her final days at home.
Cremation has taken place. A burial and Celebration of Life for Evelyn and Gerry will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church in Stellarton, NS at a future date.
