DOUEY, Marian Elizabeth Douey
November 8, 1920 - August 17, 2025
Passed away peacefully Sunday morning after a long and healthy 104 years. Born on November 8, 1920, on the family farm in Suterville, she is predeceased by her husband Donald and daughter Patricia (Lee Inman). She is survived by her son John Douey (Jane England) and daughter Barbara Bissell (Brian); her grandchildren Julie Hudacin (Micah), Jeff Bissell (Laura), Andrew Inman (Parisa), Samuel Douey and Sarah Douey; and, her great grandchildren Leah, Emily and Ben Hudacin and Bryce and Jack Bissell. Marian was a well-loved teacher most of her adult life finishing her career at Parkview School. She attended Paterson Memorial Church for over 60 years and was active in the various womenβs groups. She loved to travel and visited Europe several times as well as spending many winters in Florida with her sisters. She played bridge for many years, was always abreast of current events and loved doing crossword puzzles. Most of all she was happiest with her family around – particularly her grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Marian was the youngest daughter of Edward and Hazel Kidd and was predeceased by her siblings Raymond Kidd (Ariel), Victor Kidd (Bessie), Margaret Johnston (Donald) and Dorothy Smith (Gordon) and her brother in-law Derwent Douey (Audrey). She is survived by Donaldβs sister Muriel Bradley and a bevy of loving nieces and nephews on both the Kidd and Douey side of the family – Janice, Elaine, Ken, Dianne, Judith, Bob (deceased), Donna, Sherry, Mike, Jeff, Jim, Bryan, Nancy, David and Richard and their various spouses and children. The family gives special thanks to Marie and staff at Rosewood Village for their kindness and support of Marian in her later years. Dr Lilly and staff at Palliative Care along with the staff and volunteers at St Josephβs Hospice deserve our deep appreciation for the care and attention they provided to Marian in her last weeks of life. She was loved and will be missed and remembered by all. A funeral service will be held Thursday, August 21, 2025, at 12:00 pm at Smithβs Funeral Home with internment to follow at St James Cemetery, Watford. Donations in lieu of flowers should be made to the St Josephβs Hospice in Sarnia
