With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Milton Douglas, who passed away on April 2, 2025, at the age of 79. Milton was a man of quiet strength, integrity, and deep kindness, whose legacy will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
Milton was born in Layou, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, to Nancy Elizabeth Francis and Phillip Douglas. His hometown always remained close to his heart, and it was here where he began his career as a school teacher, reflecting his passion for knowledge and his calm, thoughtful demeanor. Though his speech impediment was a challenge, Milton faced it with grace and dignity, never allowing it to define him.
In 1966, Milton moved to the United Kingdom to further his studies in engineering, and later, in 1973, he moved to Canada, where he lived for many years. Throughout his life, Milton was an embodiment of resilience, kindness, and humility, always valuing connection over accolades and building a life rich in love and integrity.
In 1977, Milton married Viona Williams. Later, in 2010, he married Cora Ann Mardenborough, with whom he built a beautiful home in the lush Buccament Valley, called Cane Grove. This home became a haven of peace and hospitality, where many cherished memories were made with friends and family.
Milton is survived by his two sisters, Mrs. Vivian Pitt-Dowers in Brooklyn, USA, and Mrs. Sheila Richardson in Vermont, SVG. He is also survived by his brother-in-law Mr. Euston Hamblett, sister-in-law Mrs. Georgie Francis, and many other family members and friends in the UK, USA, Canada, and SVG.
Milton was a man who didn’t chase titles, but instead built a legacy of loyalty, love, and wisdom. His quiet strength and kindness will never be forgotten by his family, friends, and students.
A Time of Remembrance for Milton will be held on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at McEachnie Funeral Home Chapel. For those unable to attend in person, the service will be live-streamed at the following link: Milton Douglas Reflections Live Stream.
There will be a burial for Milton at St. James Anglican Church Cemetery in Layou, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, at a later date.
