ASSAAD, Dr. Dalal Morcos Assaad

Dalal was the unconditionally loving and devoted wife of Dr. Mohsen Assaad; and loving mother of 3 children: Dr. David Assaad (wife, Sherri Tawfik), Christopher Assaad (wife, Emily Cleland) and John Assaad.

She was a proud grandmother to Josh and Maya Assaad. She was the sister of Dr. Wedad Hanna (husband, Dr. Amir Hanna); and the brother of Ragai Boutros (wife, Mona Boutros).

She was born in Mansourah, Egypt, on January 1, 1948 and raised in the Christian Orthodox faith. She grew up in Alexandria and received a medical degree from University of Alexandria Medical school.

She moved from Egypt to Toronto in 1972 and was married to her husband, Dr. Mohsen Assaad.

Dalal was a dedicated teacher and a distinguished mentor to multiple generations of dermatology trainees at the University of Toronto. She was considered by her peers to be a trailblazer and a nationally renowned expert in the field and practice of Dermatopathology.

In her younger years, Dalal was a dedicated youth counsellor and Sunday school teacher at her church, St. Mark’s Coptic Orthodox Church in Toronto. In her spare time, Dalal was always active and loved playing tennis and training in Pilates.

She was a passionate sports fan and loved watching the Toronto Maple Leafs, Raptors and all televised tennis. On February 9, 2024, after a year long battle dealing with complications of uterine cancer, Dalal passed away peacefully, at home surrounded by her loving family.
