SMITH, Dr. Murray Cameron, B.Sc. (Hon.), M.Sc., Ph.D.
(November 8, 1945 – October 8, 2015)
With his loving wife Linda at his side, Murray passed away at Juravinski Hospital in Hamilton, on Thursday October 8th, 2015.
Murray was a passionate environmentalist and was always trying to make the world a better place for everyone. For the past 40 years, Murray was instrumental in developing and passing legislation in the area of maintaining the biological integrity of ecosystems, both as a senior manager in the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources and with his company, The Biodiversity Management Group.
In his spare time, Murray loved to race cars, competitive shooting, wood carving, playing cribbage, and horseshoes with his friends at the Acton Legion. His passion for life matched his passion for the environment.
He will be sadly missed by his loving sister, Beverley Cooper (Frank), nephew Trevor (Christine), Rachel, Benjamin and his niece Claire (George), Noelle, Victoria, sister in law Jeanene Doe and predeceased by her sons, Christopher and Michael.
The family will receive friends at MacKinnon Family Funeral Home, 55 Mill Street East, Acton, Ontario on Thursday, October 15th from 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. The funeral service will take place on Friday, October 16th at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Interment to follow.
