PAVKOVIC, Dr. Pasko Pavkovic – Obituary

PAVKOVIC, Dr. Pasko, D.V.M. Emeritus –  After a long and heroic battle with colorectal cancer, Dr. Pasko Pavkovic passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on October 13, 2015.

He was the loving husband of Frances, the devoted father of Mark and glowingly proud new father-in-law of Lina Policaro.

Pasko is survived by his brother Rajko and sister Nevenka in Herzegozina as well as numerous relatives in Canada and Europe.

He was born January 16, 1941 in the small village of Izbicno in Herzegozina. Upon completing both elementary and secondary school in Siroki Brijeg he attended the University of Zagreb, Croatia where he graduated from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in 1968.

In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to Mount Sinai Hospital or the Princess Margaret Foundation to assist other patients who have been diagnosed with cancer and to honour the wonderful work of the staff at both of these institutions. Pasko always had a positive attitude, a will to live and fight the disease. He never forgot his humble roots and Croatian heritage and was a warrior to the end.

He is resting at the Turner & Porter Yorke Chapel, 2357 Bloor Street West, east of the Jane subway. Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 15, 2015 from 3-9 p.m.

Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, October 16, 2015 at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 3055 Bloor Street West at 11 a.m. Reception to follow at St. George’s Golf and Country Club, 1668 Islington Avenue, Toronto. Interment to follow at a later date.
