DRISDELLE, Monita Lee Drisdelle
November 2, 1960 - October 13, 2025
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Monita on October 13, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was 64 years old.
Born on November 2, 1960 in Port Perry, Monita lived a life defined by generosity, joy, and unwavering love for those around her. She had a remarkable passion for life and people—always the first to show up, the last to leave, and the one everyone could count on. Whether lending a helping hand, offering a warm smile, or simply being present, Monita gave freely of herself without ever asking for anything in return.
Her family was the centre of her world. As a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, Monita found her greatest joy in the company of her loved ones. Her grandchildren were her pride and delight, and her boundless energy and love made every moment with her feel extraordinary. She also nurtured a wide and cherished circle of friends, always making time to connect, listen, and laugh.
Monita had a special bond with her beloved dog, Willie, and found peace and beauty in her backyard garden oasis, where she spent countless hours planting, pruning, and basking in nature’s quiet joys. Her love for travel took her to many places, but no matter where she went, she carried the same warmth and kindness that defined her.
Professionally, Monita was deeply admired by all who worked alongside her. Her coworkers describe her as dependable, compassionate, and inspiring—always going above and beyond expectations, always showing up for others. Her presence lit up every room, and her impact will be felt for years to come.
Monita leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and unwavering strength. She will be profoundly missed by her husband, family, grandchildren, friends, colleagues, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
A celebration of Monita’s life will be held on Saturday, November 22, 2025 12-4 pm at the Legion Branch 43 at 471 Simcoe St South in Oshawa, L1H 4J4. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in her honor to Oak Ridges Hospice or the Legion Branch 43.
Rest easy, Monita. Your light continues to shine in all of us.
