Celebrating the Journey of David Dufton

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of Dave on Saturday, September 20, 2025, having just celebrated his 73rd birthday.

Beloved husband of Pat (née Foxcroft), Dave was a loving and devoted father to Dana Middleton (Jason) and Matthew (Carrie-Lyn), and an incredibly proud grandfather to Sophie, Paige, Jack, and Lily-Anna. Nothing brought Dave more joy than time spent with his family.

While he had travelled the world, from Peru to Cairo, Dave’s favourite place was always Home, whether tending to the gardens, chopping wood or puttering in the Shop. There, surrounded by nature, Dave enjoyed a cigar on the deck, loved his rocks, and his old dog Shadow.

Dave and his family moved to Uxbridge in 1986, where he established and operated a small business, later proudly passing it on to his son, Matthew. Originally from London, Ontario, Dave and Pat maintained close ties to family and lifelong friends in the area. He remained deeply connected to his sisters, Sharon and Carole, and his brother Calvin and sister Helen who pre-deceased him as well as all of their families, always making time for visits and celebrations.

A long-time member of Sleepy Hollow since 1994, Dave and Pat formed many lasting friendships in the golf community they loved so dearly.

One of Dave’s most recognized attributes was his willingness to help others – with 41 years of Sobriety he mentored a number of people who struggled with their own addictions without judgement and with kindness and understanding.

Known for his warm hugs, kind words, and heartfelt “I love you’s” and “I’m proud of you’s”, Dave will be remembered for the love he gave so freely, his ever-present smile, and his enjoyment of life’s simple pleasures—including a good cigar shared in good company.

Dave’s presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
