DUIVESTEYN , Margaretha Duivesteyn
August 23, 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, Oma, and Over-Oma, Margaretha Duivesteyn (nee Pieksma), who peacefully left us on Saturday, August 23, 2025 at the age of 90.
Born on April 26, 1935 in Oosterzee, Netherlands, Margaretha devoted her life to her family, her faith, and her community. She will be remembered as a woman of deep kindness, unwavering love, and a determined spirit who always placed others before herself.
She was the cherished wife of Tony for almost 67 years, and together they built a home filled with love, laughter, and faith. Margaretha was a devoted mother to Peter (Susan), Linda (Dave McKague), Ivan (Sonya), Karen (Hugh Goodacre), Angela✝(Pete Johansen) and Anthony (Rita). A proud Oma to Ben, Ian, Lee, Jared (Michelle), Dana, Jacob, Kassondra, Alysha, Taryn, Justis, Devan, and Maya. Also, a joyful Over-Oma to Charlotte, Declan, and Elias, all of whom were blessed by her warmth and wisdom.
Margaretha’s happiest moments were spent surrounded by her family. She was an excellent seamstress and a model homemaker. She had an adventurous spirit, enjoyed new challenges and loved being on the water. Her love was a constant presence and her legacy lives on in the lives she touched.
She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Many thanks to all the health care professionals who were involved in her care over several years of health issues. We especially want to thank all the PSWs for their dedicated care.
Family and friends are invited to gather in celebration of her life and to share in the love and memories she so freely gave at the WAGG FUNERAL HOME, 216 Queen Street in Port Perry (905-985-2171) on Thursday, August 28th from 6 – 8 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, August 29th at 11:00 am at Emmanuel Reformed Church, 401 Rossland Road West in Whitby.
