DUNN, Murray Cowan Dunn

It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Murray Cowan Dunn on April 28, 2025, at the remarkable age of 99. Born on a farm in Osaca, Hope Township on August 17, 1925, Murray was the son of Arthur and Helen (nΓ©e Cowan) Dunn and younger brother to Calvin Dunn.

Murray and his beloved wife Edith (nΓ©e Storie), now deceased, settled in Bowmanville where they raised three children: Pat Dunn of Bowmanville, Kathy Saunders (Brian) of Newcastle, and Steven Dunn of Birchy Bay, Newfoundland. He was a devoted father and grandfather, lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Brant Saunders (Crystal), Christopher Saunders (deceased), and Kayla Dunn (Nick Roch).

For nearly 60 years, Murray lived on Third Street, surrounded by wonderful neighbours. His passion for gardening and nature was evident in every tree and flower he nurtured. After retiring from General Motors in Oshawa, he spent over 30 joyful years at his cottage on Ells Lake in the Bancroft area, where he created lasting memories with family and friends.

Murray shared many happy years with Freda Trineer, enjoying travel and local music together. In his final years, he lived comfortably in a garden suite at Season’s Clarington, finding peace watching nature from his window.

A private family graveside service will take place at Orono Cemetery. The family expresses deep gratitude to the staff of Bowmanville Hospital for their compassionate and comforting care in Murray’s final days.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Murray’s memory may be made to Lakeridge Health Bowmanville.
