Peacefully with his family by his side, Fred finished his race on Saturday, August 23rd, 2025 at the age of 69.

Fred is survived by his loving wife of 49 years Judy and sons Bradley (Andrea) and Trevor (Noelle). Beloved Opa of Gabriel, Kieran and Kassandra. Cherished brother of Grace and Charlie (Cindy). Predeceased by parents Kor and Tina, sister Ann Mary (Randy) and brother Ron. Fred was especially close to his in-laws Whitey and Eileen Sheridan, Dave (Arlene), Bonnie (John) and Wendy (Andrew).

Fred was a lifelong athlete. Originally forced into running by his future father-in-law and great friend, Fred enjoyed running races and marathons and spent many summer vacations travelling across North America to get to the next road race. Many friends were made along the way. After running countless kilometers on the road, Fred transitioned to cycling, which became his new passion.

Fred was an active member of his church community, dedicating over 20 years to the CRC Cadet program. He also volunteered at Mission Services of Hamilton, and adopted a post-retirement career at the Ontario Christian Gleaners, shipping soup product to famished regions around the world.

We are sincerely thankful for the efforts of Dr. Fraser, Dr. Berg and the entire hematology staff at Juravinski Hospital for their outstanding care.

Friends may visit with the family on Thursday, August 28, 2025 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at KITCHING, STEEPE & LUDWIG FUNERAL 146 Mill St. N., Waterdown. A Memorial Service will take place on Friday, August 29 at CALVIN CHRISTIAN REFORMED CHURCH, 420 Hwy 5 W., Dundas beginning at 11 a.m. Interment will precede the service at 10 a.m. at GARDEN LANE CEMETERY 181 7TH CONCESSION RD., Flamborough.
