EAGLES, Beulah Mae Eagles

After a lengthy battle with congestive heart failure, our dear mother, Beulah Mae Eagles, finally passed from this world into the glorious kingdom of heaven, early Tuesday morning, December 30, 2025. Thankfully, medication kept our mom from experiencing much pain, but she spent over a year mostly bedridden, with little or no energy for the things which normally would have given her much pleasure and joy. Despite her physical limitations, Interior Health’s very caring health care workers gave wonderful support during her last months at Okanagan Chateau, at Three Links Manor and at the Hospice House. They all repeatedly sang her praises — as one very special lady. The Spirit of God was so evident in Mom’s life in how she accepted her limitations gracefully, with a positive attitude, faith in the loving promises of her Lord, often with a playful sense of humour.

Beulah was born near the little village of Salisbury, New Brunswick, to Lena and Harvey Estabrooks and was the youngest of five older sisters and one older brother. After teaching several years, she married Nelson Palmer Eagles, also from the Salisbury area, and together they journeyed cross-country to British Columbia, where they built a full, loving life together for fifty-five years.

Nelson passed in 2007, but Beulah is survived by her four children: the youngest child, Roger Andrew (his wife Lisa, and children Brayden and Ashton and Ashton’s husband, Emre); Beulah’s oldest son, David Brent Nelson (his wife Carolyn, daughter Sarah Letourneau and husband Tyler Letourneau and great-grand-daughters, Amaya and Dylan); Beulah’s daughter Debi Harvey (her husband Mark Harvey and sons, Jordan and Nathan and his wife, Hannah. Beulah is also survived by her daughter Karen and her family: husband James, son Jonathan and son-in-law, Joey; and daughter Krista Carter, son-in-law Nathan Carter and great-granddaughters, Evelyn and Melissa.

In reflecting back on her life and her legacy over the years, it is good to remember Beulah Mae (as she liked to be called in her last years) as one who poured well into the lives of children and their families. A teacher from the age of eighteen, she taught in a one-room school house, taught grade three and kindergarten, was the beloved teacher of her own Fairyland Nursery School in Surrey, B.C., and she led a dynamic early childhood Sunday School in Delta, B.C.. In their later years, she and her husband, Nels, established a Keenager Seniors’ Ministry at their church.

Beulah loved singing from an early age and passed her love for music to all of her children. In her senior years, she began a music group with sister Merle Robertson and brother Vince Estabrooks called the Okanagan Valley Singers. After her husband Nelson died in 2007, she realized her dream of publishing a lovely book about her life, love and legacy, afterward continuing her writing on her Seeds of Love blog (named after her book, and which is still to be found at www.beulaheagles@blogspot.com).

We, her family, are so proud of our Mom, Grandma, Great Gi-Gi, Mother-in-law and Friend, Beulah Mae’s legacy of love lives on.

A Celebration of Life will be held on SATURDAY, JANUARY 24, 2026, at 1:00 PM, located at SPRINGFIELD FUNERAL HOME, 2020 Springfield Road, Kelowna, BC, with Minister Alvan Lewis officiating. If you are unable to attend in person, please join the family online by Livestream at the time of the service (see below), a recording will be made available to view in 3–5 days.
