EDWARDS, Harold Edwards
In the words of Melissa, granddaughter of Harold, Grampa on the farm was a man of many words; a man of faith; a man of music; a man who was always up for a road trip; and a man who could build and create anything.

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Harold Wesley Edwards who died suddenly on Friday February 6th, just 2 days shy of his 91st birthday at the Northdale Manor.

Harold was born in Haileybury, Ontario and was adopted 3 months later by his parents Wes and Ina Edwards. He started life out on a small farm in Dymond Township, and then moved to a farm in Hudson Township when he was 7 where he remained until November 2024 when he moved into the Northdale Manor.

Harold married the love of his life, Eleanor Borgford, on November 23, 1957 and made their home on the family farm.

Harold was a hard worker and was willing to try anything, but early on his favourite job was working at Hill-Clark-Francis Ltd. It was there that he was able to apprentice and get his certification in woodworking. He decided to start his own company Harold Edwards Carpentry which he ran for 20 years. In 1980 he opened up a corrugated carton business, Mid-North Containers with the help of his brother Harvey. It is still in business today under management of his son and daughter-in-law, Steven and Loretta.

Harold got the travel bug quite early on in his life. By the time he was 20, he had purchased both a motorcycle and a half ton truck to facilitate this passion. Some of his exploits, with Eleanor by his side, included building a home in Florida and travelling to Australia & New Zealand, Alaska, Greece, Iceland and numerous trips across Canada & the US.

Harold loved the Lord and this led him to plant a 4C’s church in New Liskeard, take a missionary trip to Guatemala, fill Christmas Shoeboxes through Samaritan’s Purse, volunteer with the Gideon’s organization and sponsor children through World Vision.

Harold enjoyed his music. From jam sessions in his home to playing guitar and singing in church to his final gig playing at the Northdale Manor for Birthdays of the Month Friday.

Harold was predeceased by his parents, his wife Eleanor and his 2 foster brothers Harvey and Lloyd Grant. He is survived by his son Steven (Loretta), daughters Brenda Wilson (Mark), Sandy Edwards, Angie Stevens (Bryan) and son Ted (Nadya); 10 grandchildren Brad (Sarah) Chantal, Alana, Anthony (Tania), Audisho, Samirra, Melissa (Simon), Samantha (David), Taylor and Jared; 15 great-grandchildren Drenady (Kaelyn), Nicholas, Jeremy, Marcus, Daniel, Myriam, Brayden, Nolan, Journey, Bella, Violet, Jack, Ada, Islay and Nora.

We would like to thank the entire staff of the Northdale Manor for making Harold’s stay there as comfortable and fun as it was.

Cremation has taken place and a celebration of Harold’s life will be held in the spring, on Saturday, June 6th at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church in New Liskeard at 11:00am. A reception will follow at the Hudson Twp Hall, 278011 Milberta Rd, New Liskeard.

Harold’s final care has been entrusted to the Buffam Leveille funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations to Into All The World or Shareword Global (The Gideons) in Harold’s memory would be appreciated. Condolences and tributes may be shared at www.buffamleveille.com
