EDWARDS , William Gary “Bill” Edwards
August 17, 2025
A resident of Wheatley, Bill passed away peacefully at the Chatham-Kent Hospice on August 17, 2025 at 90 years of age. Reunited with his cherished wife Cecile (2017). Beloved father of Brian (Gail), Timothy (Daphne), Jeffrey, Gilbert (Jan) and Suzanne and dear father-in-law to Christine. Loving Grandpa to Jesse, Kristy, Gregory, Jordan, Shane, Ali, Mackie, Kenny, Meghan and Dane and proud Great Grandpa of 8. Dear brother of Dennis (Janice), Jon (Sandy), the late Wayne (the late Norine), the late Herb (the late Doris) and the late Delores (the late Don). He will be sadly missed by many brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews and many dear friends.
Bill retired after many years as a car salesman for Windsor/Es/Kent County Ford dealerships and enjoyed spending his leisurely hours keeping busy with crossword and jigsaw puzzles, golfing, fishing, billiards and enjoying daily walks to the Provincial Park and many visits to Point Pelee. Many thanks to Dad’s golfing, fishing and billiards buddies for your constant companionship. He had many amusing stories to share.
To Bill’s kind neighbors and the administration at The Meadows of Wheatley, your friendships and support during the years of both Mom and Dad’s residency will not be forgotten. We treasure your endearing words and the memories which you shared with us. Special thanks to the in-home nurses who provided expert care and attention and to the caring and compassionate staff at Chatham-Kent Hospice. Our heartfelt gratitude to Claudette and Randy for your love and support before and during Dad’s illness. Words cannot express our appreciation to you both.
Our Dad was an inspiration to all of us. His work ethic, integrity, dedication to family and of course his sense of humor are gratefully instilled in us. Dad, you are loved and forever missed.
Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will take place at the McKinlay Reception Centre, 463 St. Clair Street, Chatham on Saturday, October 18, 2025 from 1:00 – 4:00pm. Donations made in memory of Bill to the Chatham-Kent Hospice Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
