ARMOUR, Edwin – Peacefully surrounded by his loving family on October 7, 2015, at Macassa Lodge, Edwin Armour in his 93rd year.

Beloved husband of the late Marion Rita (nee Bird) whom he will be joining in eternal rest.

Loving father of John and his wife Patricia, and Jim. Greatly loved grandpa of Michelle, Julie, and Kyle (and his fiancée Lisa). Brother-in-law of Barbara Bird and Elaine Bird. Survived by many nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by his parents Karl and Eva Armour and his brother Jack and his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Jimmy Bird, Helen Bird, John Bird, Mickey and Bobby McHugh, Charlie Bird and Ray and Marie Dillon.  

Edwin was a retired employee of Hamilton Hydro with 35 years of service. He was a Veteran in the Second World War with the Royal Canadian Navy which he served in the North Atlantic and was a decorated Veteran with many medals including the Arctic Star.

He was the head usher at St. Margaret Mary Parish for over 20 years and was a volunteer with Macassa Lodge for 30 years. His passion for sports made for many memories and he will be lovingly remembered for being a great role model for his grandchildren.  

Special thanks to Dad and Jim’s very special friend, Ray for all his dedication and caring over the last 27 years. To the Mathews family especially Debbie Marangoni for her special care and deep love over the last few weeks. Special thanks to Janet Seki for her visits and baking.

To the staff of the Juravinski Hospital (Emergency ICU and Medical Ward) for their compassion shown to dad during his stay. All the doctors, nurses and staff at Macassa Lodge for all of their love, support and compassion over the last six months. To Roy O’Grady for his support as well as his war vet friends. Lastly, special thanks to the Ministry of Veterans Affairs for their care and support.  

Visitation will be held at P.X. DERMODY FUNERAL HOME  , 796 Upper Gage Ave., Hamilton, ON on Friday, October 9th from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Prayers will be said in the funeral home on Friday at 8:30 p.m.

A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Margaret Mary Parish on Saturday, October 10th at 10 a.m. Burial to take place.

Donations to the SPCA would be appreciated by the family.
