EHMAN, Andrew David Ehman
March 20, 1958 - October 12, 2025
We are sad to share the news of Andrew Ehman, who passed away on October 12, 2025.
Andrew was born on March 20, 1958, in South Africa, and grew up with his siblings.
He shared his life with his partner and husband, Paul Anthony Munster, who predeceased him in 2004. Together, they enjoyed making a home, tending their yard and garden, cooking and sharing meals, and welcoming their first puppy as a family.
Andrew is survived by his sister-in-law, Krista Munster, and nephew Kyle Brown (Munster) and their family, with whom he remained very close — more like lifelong friends than extended family. He is also dearly remembered by family friends Yvette and Darryl, along with daughters Shelby and Taylor, and their families. Andrew was predeceased by both his parents and survived by 5 brothers and a sister.
Andrew’s furry companions were also an important part of his life. His past dog, Nitro, and Samantha “Sam”, who now resides with Yvette, brought him joy throughout the years.
Andrew lived all over the world and held multiple jobs, primarily in nursing services. He served on various committees and organizations across British Columbia and Canada, advocating for the rights of the LGBTQ community, as well as HIV/AIDS awareness, and supporting RELATE.
He was known for his sharp, sarcastic humour and found laughter even in the most difficult times. Loyal to those he cared for, Andrew was always a listening ear, offering insights on multiple sides of any situation; when Andrew was in your corner, he was in it for life. He would call a spade a spade, whether you liked it or not, and could be relied upon at any hour, even 4 am. Andrew was a listening ear who would share points of views on multiple sides, with whatever dilemma you may be speaking with him about. It was challenging to change his opinion. He most certainly didn’t believe in the normalities of society.
Andrew was continuously educating himself, taking on many forms of education. One of his biggest goals was to own a farm, become a true cattle rancher, and grow vegetables to share with his community. Even up to his passing, he was actively exploring properties in pursuit of this.
In the last two and a half years of his life, Andrew travelled extensively, collecting a T-shirt from every city, village, and country he visited. Upon returning, he was delighted in sharing stories from his adventures. He fulfilled a lifelong dream of cruise ship travel, seeing much of the world in a short period of time.
He will be deeply missed.
Respecting Andrew’s wishes, no formal gathering will take place. In the new year, when the weather is warmer, his ashes will be taken to Tofino, BC — a personal place for himself and Paul.
If anyone wishes to make a donation in Andrew’s memory, contributions can be made to Critteraid Animal Sanctuary in Summerland, BC (critteraid.org).
