Passed away peacefully at Chapman House on Saturday, March 14, 2026. Born in Windsor on May 29, 1940, Barbara May Elford (nee Brooks) of Owen Sound was in her 86th year.
Loving mother of Alex Elford (Ikuko) of Guelph and mother-in-law of Ina Elford of London. Cherished grandma of Veronica (Kenny), Spencer, Kee (Lan), Ryoga and Ayano (Taka). Proud great grandma of Quinton, Bryson and Shuto. Dear sister of Sallie, Carolyn, Beatrice and George. Barb will also be missed by her extended family and friends, especially by her friends Ida, Abby, Jennette and Art.
Predeceased by her son Robert Elford, by her father Henry and by her mother Helen.
Barb loved books, cherished quiet moments spent reading and was a dedicated patron of the library. Her passion for literature was so deep that she devoted 32 years to teaching English.
In keeping with Barb’s wishes, cremation is taking place. Arrangements are entrusted to Brian E. Wood Funeral Home, Owen Sound, 519-376-7492.
