William (Bill) Francis Ennis of Delaware, Ontario, passed away at Strathroy Hospital on June 5th in his 75th year. Partner and good friend of Dianne. Father to John (Kendra), Eric, Crystal, and Scott. Loving Grandpa to Kellen and Farren.
Survived by sister Sharon (Richard) Abel, Jo-Anne (Jim) McInnis, and brother Patrick Ennis. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by nephew Sean Abel (2004).
Bill’s parents, Gloria and Bill, moved from London to Arva when he was about seven. He developed a love for the outdoors—gardening, fishing, and hunting—thanks to the mentorship of his father. He also took up the unique hobby of training homing pigeons and was a member of the Lucan Pigeon Club for several years.
Southampton held many fond memories for Bill, where his family cottage became a place of lasting connection. He loved the peaceful “rocky beach” and continued to visit over the years.
Bill’s motivation through recent health challenges, including a double lung transplant, was the love he held for his grandchildren, Kellen and Farren. Though he fought valiantly, he lost his final battle and will be forever remembered with love.
A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Patrick’s Church in Lucan on June 25th at 11:00 a.m., officiated by Father Steve Wlusak. Cremation has taken place, and interment of ashes will follow on July 3rd at St. Peter’s Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Toronto Lung Transplant Program at UHN Foundation are appreciated.
