It is with tremendous sadness and broken hearts that the family of Olivia Cansanay Espiritu of Cambridge, Ontario announce her passing on Wednesday, January 28,2026 at WRHN-Midtown (formerly known as Grand River Hospital) , at the age of 76 after a short battle with cancer.
Olivia will be lovingly remembered by her Husband of 56 years, Victorio Sr., Children: Noel (Tania), Gina (Tang), Russel (Dave) and Victor Jr; Grandchildren: Angelica and Jenson, brother Conrado Jr. Cansanay (Teresita), Bella Librojo (Antonio), and Rex Cansanay, as well as numerous cousins, in laws, abundant nieces and nephews in Canada, USA, England and in her native country of the Philippines.

Though Olivia’s professional career was brief, having worked at Costco as her last place of employment, Olivia dedicated her life to the noble vocation of raising her family. She worked hard to ensure her home was filled with warmth, love and laughter. She was a devoted mother who fiercely stood by her children/grandchildren no matter what and took great pride in watching them grow into the people they are today. Olivia beamed with positive light and her beautiful smile and twinkling eyes attracted many to want to be around her. She loved to dance, was a movie buff, a Bingo Queen and her favourite past times was going to the casino and the mall with the love of her life Victorio and their friends.
Olivia will forever be remembered as a cheerleader to her friends and family, always offering a listening ear to those that asked for help/advice, often acting as a confidant, a counsellor, fill-in mom for those that saw her as their surrogate mom, a great secret keeper and best friend to her children and many friends.
“Mom, you are loved beyond words and we thank God for the gift of giving us our perfect Mom. Your laughter, your warmth, your kindness and your love was so pure and true. Thank you Mom for all that you did and all that you sacrificed for us. Mom, not a day will go by that we will not miss you. Until we meet again, you are forever in our hearts.”
Our family would like to express our gratitude to the ICU Nursing Staff at WRHN-at Midtown for their kindness and compassionate care of our beloved Mom and our family.
As an expression of sympathy, please consider donations to the WRHN foundation towards the Cardiac Care Program, Cancer Care Program or Renal Care Program in Honour of Olivia Espiritu.
