BOYCE, Eva Rose Boyce – Obituary
BOYCE, Eva Rose – Peacefully at Brantford General Hospital on Thursday October 1, 2015, Eva Rose Boyce (nee Colley) in her 87th year.
Predeceased by the love of her life, Glenn (2004).
Mother of Rick (JoAnne) of Kelvin and Christine (Art) Hanson of Walsingham. Survived by grandchildren Brian (Stacey) Boyce, Jennifer Partington-Boyce (and friend Bill), Nicole Sinden-Hanson (Lucas), Matthew Sinden-Hanson (Ainsleigh), Doug (Eryn) Vandecapelle, and Melanie (Justin) Hoogstraten. Also survived by six great-grandchildren: Ricky, Landon, Tanner, Chase, Abbi and Aaron.
Eva also leaves behind one sister, Pat Banks, and two special nieces, Jean and Linda, and their families. Predeceased by son-in-law Ron Sinden (2001), baby grandson Robert James Boyce (1974), sister Dorothy Speirs (2002).
Eva married Glenn in 1948 and together they worked the Boyce family farm where she spent many happy years.
A creative person who enjoyed many hobbies (sewing, crafting jewellery, card making to name just a few), she was always involved in the community. She was a life member of the Women’s Institute (Friendly Corner chapter until its dissolution), Kelvin U.C.W., and a leader of 4-H for many years. She enjoyed travelling, playing cards, sitting on her porch, reading, and most of all spending time at her cottage, fishing. (She never did catch Walter, the S.O.B.! It’s up to you now, Jenn!).
Eva was an outspoken but kind-hearted woman. An excellent cook whose door was always open and table always ready. When asked once about why she creamed the vegetables, she answered “because you can stretch what you have to feed more people”! She possessed a great sense of humour and an unstoppable spirit to the end….when everyone was silent and feeling the sadness of her diagnoses, she made us laugh!
Friends will be received at THE ARN-LOCKIE FUNERAL HOME, 45 Main St. W., Norwich, Ontario on Sunday 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 p.m. A celebration of Eva’s life will be held at the funeral home on Monday October 5, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Adam Hanley officiating. Interment.
Memorial donations to KTV (Kelvin, Teeterville, Vanessa) United Church or Kelvin Cemetery would be appreciated.
Thank you to the staff of BGH all of whom were caring, loving and so kind to Eva. Special thanks to Adrienne and Elinor for keeping her feeling beautiful during the final weeks. And to all the friends and relatives who visited so faithfully and brought her favourite foods. (Thelma makes the best lemon pie)!
And now as Eva would say, it’s time to “Shut up and go home”.
Happy Fishing Mom, we love you oodles and oodles!.
