DUNNE, Evelyn Dunne Obituary

DUNNE, Evelyn – Peacefully during her sleep, Evelyn Dunne passed away on December 24, 2015, at her home at Robertson House Retirement Residence in Ottawa, Canada.

Born May 17, 1917, in Liverpool, England, sibling to Helen, George and Lil, Evelyn lived life to the fullest and had a particular passion for dancing that lasted to her final years even winning competitions in the pre-World War II era.

Predeceased by George, her husband of 73 years, they married on December 17, 1938, with the clouds of war on the horizon.

Surviving the Blitz and the rest of the war, Evelyn and George emigrated to Canada in 1952 on the Empress of Canada ocean liner, bringing with them their first two children, Hazel and Geoffrey. A third child Alan, was born in Canada.

Evelyn is survived by an extended family in the Ottawa area consisting of the three children, six grandchildren, Michael, Karen, Jason, Leah, Nicholas and Sebastien and four great-grandchildren, Noah, Nathan, Tyler and Eve.

A warm and friendly disposition, aided by a daily glass of Sherry, contributed to Evelyn living well into her 99th year.

With the last 6 years spent at Robertson House, the family would like to thank the staff for their loving care during Mom’s final years.
