FAIRLEY, Mary Margaret Fairley

It is with great love and sadness that we announce the loss of Mary Margaret Fairley, who passed away while surrounded by family on February 10, 2026.

Left to hold her dear to their hearts are her children Grant Fairley, Donna Hikichi, Linda (Larry) Tanaka, Bonnie MacDonald, Betty Jong, and David Fairley; eleven grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; brothers Harry (Doreen) Fraser and Joe (Linda) Fraser;Β and sister-in-law Alice Thompson.

She now goes to join those who passed before her, including her husband of 59 years,Β Alexander FairleyΒ (d. 2013); andΒ sons-in-law Kenneth Jong, Dan Hikichi, and Steve D’Andrea; and brothersΒ Fred, Frank, and Pat Fraser.

Mary was born on September 8, 1932, in Polwarth, Saskatchewan, to David Murray Fraser and Eva Mildred Adams. In her early years, her family moved west to Duncan, British Columbia, where she would meet the love of her life, Alexander Fairley. Together they built a life rooted in devotion, resilience, and family. Mary embraced her role as a stay-at-home mom with grace and strength, raising six children with steady guidance and unconditional love. Her home was always a place of warmth and comfort.

Over the years, Mary and Alexander made their home in many communities throughout British Columbia, including Nanaimo, Kamloops, Squamish, Vernon, and Kelowna. No matter where they lived, Mary created a true sense of belonging for her family. As her children grew, she continued to pour her heart into caring for her grandchildren, offering the same patience, kindness, and quiet strength that defined her life. Her legacy lives on in the generations she nurtured and the loving family she held together.

Mary loved a quiet day or evening and filled them by reading, doing puzzles, gardening, orΒ playing cards at Friday family night dinners. OnΒ occasion, when she wanted a little more lights and noise, she could be seenΒ taking her chances at the casino.

A Graveside Service for family and friends will be held on FRIDAY, MAYΒ 1, 2026, at 12:00 PM (PST), located at Lakeview Memorial Gardens Cemetery,Β 2850 Dry Valley Rd, Kelowna, BC, andΒ officated by Clair Jantzen.
