FELIPA, Carlos Felipa

FELIPA, Carlos Felipa

With great sadness, the family of Carlos Felipa announces his peaceful passing on December 28th, 2025, at his home in Whitby, Ontario. He was deeply loved and tenderly cared for by his family, whose devotion and presence meant the world to him.

Carlos was born on September 30th, 1936, in Lima, Perú, to Julia Victoria “Toyita” Felipa.  He married the love of his life, Josefina Judith “Chepa” Felipa (nee Cortavarria) on October 28th, 1956. Childhood sweethearts, Carlos and Josefina shared 69 beautiful years of marriage, filled with love, devotion, and adventure. Together they raised three cherished children: Luis Felipa (Cheryl), Gladys Saenz (Daniel), and Betty Cruz (Javier). Among their most treasured memories were their travels throughout Europe, France been a favourite.

In 1974, Carlos and Josefina immigrated to Toronto, Ontario, with their children. Carlos was a gifted and dedicated Automotive Service Technician who took immense pride in his work and consistently gave more than 100% in everything he did. Known for his strong work ethic, curiosity, and determination, he never hesitated to rise to life’s challenges. His career included service with the Peruvian Army, Toronto Metro Police, Sears, and Durham Regional Police, and he proudly fulfilled his dream of owning a BP Gas & Automotive Service Station. Affectionately known as Papa Carlos, he will be deeply missed by his grandchildren: Michelle, Carolyn (Kurt), Lewis, Laura (Scott), Christopher (Deja), Veronica (Alexander), Jason (Pamela), and Sean; and by his beloved great-grandchildren: Eric, Isabella, Dante, Zoe, Edwin, Jack, and Edison.

Carlos is now reunited with those who went before him: his sister Doris, his mom Toyita, brother Fernando, granddaughters Marilyn, Raven (Nazir), and great-grandchildren Alia, Jayden, and Layla, who lovingly watch over us all.

Papa Carlos was a true craftsman, who took pride and care in everything he touched, whether improving his home, cultivating an abundant tomato harvest, or perfecting his famous blueberry muffin and flan recipes. His generosity and kindness knew no bounds. He was always there for his children, grandchildren and greatgrandchildren, offering guidance on projects, helping them find their first vehicle, or simply giving a warm, reassuring hug.

His door and his heart were always open to family and friends, whether for a planned visit or a spontaneous “I’ll be there in 10 minutes.” While he will be deeply missed, his love, work ethic, and dedication lives on in all of us.

Te queremos mucho, Papa Carlos.

May God grant eternal rest to Carlos and let perpetual light shine upon him.  May his soul rest in peace, reunited with loved ones who have gone before him.

May his family find comfort in cherished memories, strength in one another, and peace in knowing that his loved and legacy will forever live on in their hearts. Amen
