With heavy hearts, we share the passing of Kathleen “Kathy” Dawn Ferguson. Kathy passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on Thursday, January 29, 2026. Kathy is survived by her parents Diane Kyle (Yeo), and Gary Ferguson, her husband John Ellsworth, her children Randy (Andrea) Ellsworth, Lisa (Dean) Hirlehey, Jessie (Jill) Ellsworth, Scott Ellsworth, and her grandchildren, Mason, Ben, Kaden, Riley, Zoey, and Tessa.

Kathy was a strong, independent, and hardworking woman who dedicated much of her life to caring for others. She spent the majority of her career working in retirement homes, where her compassion, dedication, and tireless work ethic touched the lives of countless residents and colleagues. Caring for others was not just her profession-it was who she was at her core.

Kathy was fiercely loyal to her friends and has a rare gift of connection. She welcomed everyone with warmth and kindness, and she could become friends with anyone she met. Her laughter, compassion, and genuine heart made people feel seen, valued, and at home in her presence.

Family meant everything to Kathy. She was the heart of every gathering – the one who brought everyone together, kept traditions alive, and made sure no one was ever left out. She was the glue that held her loved ones close, always offering support, strength, and unconditional love.

Her legacy will live on through the countless lives she touched and through everyone who had the privilege of knowing and loving her.

Visitation will be held at De Stefano Funeral Home, Celebration & Reception Centre (1289 Keith Ross Drive, Oshawa, L1J 0C7) on Friday, February 6th, with an open casket from 2:00 pm–4:00 pm, followed by a closed casket visitation from 6:00 pm–8:00 pm.

A visitation will take place at the funeral home on Saturday, February 7th, from 10:00 am–11:00 am, with the funeral service beginning at 11:00 am.

Interment at the cemetery will follow, and all are welcome to join the family afterwards for a reception to celebrate Kathy’s life and share memories together.
