FETTER, Sylvia Fetter

At the Riverview Gardens Nursing Home, on Tuesday February 3rd, 2026, Sylvia Fetter passed away peacefully at the age of 76. Cherished daughter of the late James and Eileen (Samspon) Champaigne. Beloved wife of Brian Fetter for over 53 years. Predeceased by their infant daughter Maria Fetter (1981). Loving sister of Glenna (Larry) Brazeau of Timmins and dear aunt of Kelly (Norm) Bougie, and honorary grandma of their children Mattie and Maggie Bougie, Jason (Kelly) Brazeau, Cynthia (Steve) Joduin, Curtis Champaigne, Mark (Cindy) Weaver, and Jill (Jack) Ferren, April Inglis, Jean (Gord) Gould, Jamie Inglis, John Inglis, Scott Weaver and Pam Weaver. Predeceased by her brother Gerald Champaigne (Joy), sisters-in-laws Patricia (James) Inglis and Vivian Weaver.

Brian and Sylvia met in North Bay and would later move to Sarnia, and then to Chatham. It was in Chatham that they owned and operated Fetter’s Snack Shack from 1975 to 1998. Sylvia kept herself busy at Walmart from 1999 to 2014 when she retired.

Sylvia was a people person. She loved her family and friends. Her home was always open and welcoming, and it was not unusual to see her delivering a pot of soup or home baked muffins to a friend’s home. Sylvia’s kindness will not be forgotten.

Family and friends are invited to Alexander & Houle Funeral Home, 245 Wellington West, Chatham, 519-352-2710 on Thursday February 5th, 2026, with visiting from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm. The memorial service will be conducted from the chapel of the funeral home on Friday February 6th, 2026, at 1 pm. Cremation will have taken place. Interment Maple Leaf Cemetery, Chatham at a later date. Friends planning an expression of remembrance are asked to consider a charity of their choice.
