FLANNIGAN, Zita Flannigan

A devoted wife, loving mother, and cherished grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on February 5, 2026 at the age of 90.

She was born on November 7, 1935, in Glasgow, Scotland. This is where she met the love of her life, her husband of 69 years, William John Flannigan – ‘Willie’ as she called him to her very last days; even when all other names and memories were stolen from her.

Zita and William bravely crossed the ocean and brought their three young children, Paul, Dalene and Bill to Canada and through much hard-work and care, created a loving, fun-filled home for their children.

As a mother, she was a steady source of love, guidance, and strength, always putting her children first. As a grandmother, she found immense joy in her grandchildren, whom she adored and spoiled with love. She was thrilled when she became a great-grandmother, insisting she be called ‘GG’.

When you entered a room, you always knew if Zita was there – you would hear her laughter as you came through the door. Zita loved to laugh. She loved to dance. She loved to sing.

She is survived by her beloved husband, William; her children, Paul, Dalene (Eric) and Bill (Gail); her grandchildren, Paul (Christina), Christopher (Melissa), Katie (Mike), Erin (David) and Steven (Ronilea); her great-grandchildren, Annie, Kai, William, Nyla, Zita, Emily and Rachel and many other family members and friends who will miss her dearly.
