FOURNIER, Jules Joseph Fournier
November 23, 2024
It is with great sadness that the family of Jules Joseph Fournier, also known as Joe or Pepe, announces his peaceful passing at Teck Pioneer Residence on November 23, 2024, at the age of 95, surrounded by family.
Jules is survived by his sons Emeric (Tracy) and Roland, and his adored grandchildren Erica (Matthew), Mathew, Natasha (Jesse), Jules (Kara), and Diane (Manpreet). He was also the proud great-grandfather of Aria. Predeceased by his parents and his wife, Carmelle Fournier (Lamarche), Jules lived a full and active life.
Born and raised in Kirkland Lake, Jules traveled across Canada for work in his younger years before returning to settle in his hometown. He worked at many operational mines in the area, including the Adams Mine before his retirement. Jules was a happy, friendly, and generous man who loved to volunteer, especially during the holidays, dressing as Santa Claus to bring joy to children.
Jules was a gifted storyteller and artist, with talents in playing the spoons, harmonica, and accordion, as well as wood carving and painting. He loved the outdoors, cherishing time spent camping, fishing, hunting, and being with his family. Jules left a legacy of cherished memories and laughter that his family will hold dear forever.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Teck Pioneer Residence for over 8 years of exceptional care, the nurses, personal support workers, and Dr. Moore for their compassionate service.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Teck Pioneer Residence, 145A Government Road East, Kirkland Lake, ON, P2N 3P4. In accordance with Jules’ wishes, cremation has taken place, and a graveside service will be held in the spring.
