LEBAR, Franc (Branko) Lebar

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Franc (Branko) Lebar on January 2, 2024, at the age of 88.

Franc was a loving husband, proud father, and cherished opa and great-opa, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, love and beautiful memories.

He is survived by his beloved wife of over 65 years, Vida, with whom he shared a lifetime of love and companionship.

Together, they built a home filled with laughter, love and countless cherished moments.

Franc’s devotion to Vida was a testament to the enduring power of love.

Franc was the proud father of Branko (Susan), Diana (Peter) and Christine (Steve). His love for his children knew no bounds, and he took great pride in witnessing their achievements and milestones.

As a father, Franc provided constant support, offered guidance and a reassuring shoulder to lean on during both joyous and challenging times. His roles as a cherished opa to Erik (Rochelle), Adam (Tessa), Mitchell (Brie), Jackson, Isabel, Nino (Amy) and Alexandra (Luca); and great-opa to Jordyn, Chase, Indy, Zoe, Leo and Harper were ones that brought immense joy to Franc.

His face would light up with pure happiness in their presence.

Franc’s love for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren was im- measurable, and the memories they created together will be treasured for generations to come. Franc Lebar was born October 3, 1935, in Lasko, Slovenia.

On May 17, 1958, he married the love of his life, Vida.

After immigrating to Canada in 1962 and securing his Canadian credentials, he worked many jobs. He then was able to bring his wife, Vida, and his son, Branko, to Canada to join him.

A special thanks for all his caregivers. As we mourn the loss of Franc Lebar, let us remember him not with tears but with the gratitude for the incredible life he lived, the love he shared, and the indelible mark he left on the hearts of those fortunate enough to know him.

Friends will be received at the Ward Funeral Home, 4671 Highway 7, Woodbridge, on Sunday, January 7th from 1:00 – 4:00 and 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. A funeral service will take place on Monday, January 8th at 1:00 p.m. Reception to follow. Private cremation to take place.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer Society of Canada in Franc’s memory. May he rest in peace.
