PILLER, Frederick Felix ‘Fred’ –

Passed away peacefully after a lengthy illness on Wednesday, October 7, 2015, at the age of 84.

He is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 60 years, Alice. Loving father to Fred Jr. (Sandra Platt) and Lisa (Ron) Young. Opa to Jacob Young, Monika and William “Billy” Piller. Brother-in-law of Peter Laurie and Carol Favier. Uncle to Michael, Cathy, Susan, Tracy, Allison and Barry.

He was predeceased by his loving parents Felix and Elizabeth, sister Betty Laurie and brother-in-law Barend Favier.

Born in Renfrew, Ontario, he spent part of his youth in Germany and lived most of his life in Ottawa and St. Catharines. Frederick was a creative and energetic man who enjoyed being with his family. He worked as an Engineer for the City of Ottawa for 35 years, and moved to St. Catharines for his retirement to be closer to his children.

He was a photographer in his spare time and won several awards for his work.

Fred’s family will receive friends at the George Darte funeral chapel, 585 Carlton St., St. Catharines, Ontario on Monday, October 12th from 7-9 p.m. A Celebration of Fred’s life will be held in the funeral home chapel on Tuesday, October 13th at 11:30 a.m.

Cremation to follow the service. An Interment will take place in the spring time, when the flowers are blooming.
