FREIBURGER, Joe Freiburger
June 30, 1949 - March 7, 2026Joe was a loving husband to Krystyna (Piotrowska) whom he cherished and shared a life with for 55 years. Born and raised in Kitchener-Waterloo he was the eldest child of Carl and Alfreda Freiburger and brother to Cecilia Racine, Frank (Wendy), Paul (Arlene), and Jerry (Karen). He was a beloved son-in-law to Franciszek and Janina Piotrowski and brother-in-law to Stan (Irene) and Andy. He loved his many nieces and nephews.
Joe was a loving and devoted father and father-in-law to Christopher (Ashley), Mark (Melaine), Michael (Rebecca) and Matthew (Karlee). His love for his sons was unconditional through all the highs and lows of raising four boys.
Joe was sharp-witted and at his core he was kind and deeply caring. He believed strongly in giving back and supported many causes, including Diabetes Canada, The Working Centre, The Carmel of St. Joseph, organizations preserving the stories of WWII Polish exiles and delivering food to the homeless with the grassroots group Going Mobile.
Known to be a night owl he often came alive late at night, becoming the family’s dependable pickup driver first for his sons after nights out and later for his grandchildren. His only payment was a hug or kiss and an extra-large black coffee.
A determined and hardworking man, Joe put himself through school while newly married and raising his sons, to become a Certified General Accountant. He held leadership roles at Uniroyal Goodrich before becoming an owner of Anderson Tire & Treads, a retread manufacturing plant in the Hamilton area, where he was known as a supportive and generous employer.
Joe leaves behind his greatest legacy his seven beloved grandchildren, Normandie, Sofia, Lucie, Sawyer, Owen, Joe and Ellie. In his final hours, he was surrounded by the family he loved deeply.
Our family is grateful for the support of extended family, friends, colleagues, and neighbours during this time.
