Heather was a Professional Engineer who retired in 2019 as a Health and Safety Manager after a long career in the energy and construction sectors. Heather loved everything about nature and was an avid hiker. She served on the Board of the Caledon Hills section of the Bruce Trail and was currently working on her 10th end to end of the Bruce Trail.

Heather loved all animals and she was a devoted animal rescue volunteer at several animal sanctuaries. She worked several days a week to help care for all manner of rescued animals. She had recently fallen in love working with rescued horses and donkeys in addition to the other animals.

Heather was passionate, driven, and deeply engaged in the causes and people she cared about. Deeply loved and profoundly missed by her husband and all who knew her.

Visitation will be held at Smith’s Funeral Home, 1167 Guelph Line (one stoplight north of the QEW), Burlington (905-632-3333), on Monday, August 11, 2025, from 5 to 8 pm. A Funeral Service will take place in the Chapel on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at 1 pm, reception to follow in the building.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to any of The Bruce Trail Conservancy, Carlisle Creek Farm, Happily Ever Esther Farm Sanctuary or any other animal sanctuary would be sincerely appreciated by the family.
