FURMAN, Genowefa Furman
April 15, 1929 - February 9, 2026
Passed away peacefully at the age of 96. Beloved wife of 57 years to the late Aleksander, loving mother of Alice Bochus (Paul) and Diane DelZotto (Frank), devoted grandmother of Monica Sindrey (Liam), Michael Bochus (Mary), Alana DelZotto and Robert DelZotto (Kayla). Great grandmother to Xander Sindrey. Survived by several nieces and nephews in Poland and Canada.
Genowefa (Genia) was born in 1929 in Poland and travelled to Canada in 1959 where she met Aleksander, and they soon married. Genia faithfully attended Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church and sang in the church choir for many years. Genia was a member of the Polish People’s Home Association (Dom Polski), the Polish Women’s Circle and the Polish Senior’s Group. Genia enjoyed making pierogi for the Carousel of the Nation’s Polish Village. She was an avid card player often hosting card playing parties with her friends as well as playing bingo. Genia had a passion for knitting, crocheting and tending to her flower gardens and attending social functions in the Polish community. The family and friends thoroughly enjoyed Genia’s cooking and baking with such highlights as delicious soups, cabbage rolls, pierogi, crepes, paczki, tortes, apple pies and babkas. She had a special fondness for visiting big cities.
The family would like to extend special thanks to the wonderful PSWs at ParaMed and the staff at Huron Lodge for their excellent care. In addition, the family would like to recognize the loving care provided by Lidia Kowal and Wiesia Bochus.
