Pioneer social inclusion activist, food bank volunteer, master of comic timing, intrepid transit enthusiast, analog radio lover, sweet singer.
Gabe West, a truly beautiful man, pure of heart.
Love emanated from him and affected the lives of many people. Gabe’s gift was deep listening and telling the truth. He had a really good life and many committed relationships.
Survived by his mother Martha Eleen, his grandmother Luba Eleen and his auntie Laura Eleen.
Recently predeceased by his grandfather John Eleen and his mentors Judith Snow and Peter Dill. Gabe will be missed and loved forever by his honourary brothers Ryan Blakely and Steve Lappano, his dear friends Ryan Carley and Henna Tuohimaa and many others close and far.
His loving supporters Kristina, Jordan, Jackson and Lisa follow a long legacy of attendants whose lives have been changed by this intimate relationship, many of whom have become a circle of lifelong friends.
Gabe died from complications of poor medical guidance over many years.
The sadness of this has been redeemed by the healthy and loving care at St. Michael’s Hospital at the end of his life.
Funeral January 16, 2015, 11 a.m. at Church of the Holy Trinity, Toronto (perfume free).
Donations can be made in Gabe’s name to Integration Action for Inclusion, Ontario.
